Pilates chin into chest
Feb 14, 2022
Most of the pad Pilates movements involve raising the head and hands and feet in a supine position. Correct head position is important for increasing abdominal muscle use and reducing neck stress. The head should be lifted forward onto the collarbone and the chin should rest on the sternum. There should be about a fist distance between the chin and the chest, and the line of sight should be fixed on the axis. Raising your head this way also helps you to check the alignment of your torso and feet with your eyes while exercising. A common mistake made by beginners is putting the chin too close to the breastbone, or holding the head back, causing neck pain.
